Sunshine Pinwheel Wreath

Oh goodness, I love this wreath!  I picked up some paper from Hobby Lobby weeks ago and knew I wanted to make some pinwheels for the Sunshine Baby Shower my friend and I are throwing.  The last time I made pinwheels was over 3 years ago!  They're so fun so knew they'd be perfect to incorporate into our shower.  I randomly thought they'd be cute for a wreath so this is what I came up with.

Here's how to make your own:

Take some scrapbook paper.  I used two pieces because I didn't want the white side to show through.  Some papers are double sided so those would work perfectly.  I cut them to various sizes.  4x4, 3x3 and 2x2 were the sizes I used.  Take a ruler and draw a line from one corner to the opposite corner on the back side of the paper.  Do the same to the other two corners.  Then cut up toward the middle leaving about 1/2 inch uncut.

Once they're cut, lay the papers on top of each other wrong sides facing.  You want to take the left corners and bring them up toward the middle.  To help them stay, I laid a piece of double sided tape in the middle.  Once you've brought them up, you need to pierce the paper.  I have a paper piercer so it was easy but try a sewing pin or even a push pin - something to pierce through the paper.  Then attach your brad.

Do this until you have as many pinwheels as you want.  You can't see it but I wrapped a piece of burlap around my wreath so that the pinwheels would have something to stick to.  I used hot glue to attach them.

I didn't feel like the wreath was quite finished so I took some of the chevron paper and cut it into pennants.  They are 1.5" long by 1" wide.  I luckily had some Amy Tangerine Thickers that I just picked up.  I used those to spell out sunshine.

I seriously just LOVE how this turned out.  It definitely didn't look like this in my mind when I started. Originally I was only going to do one large pinwheel.  I'm so glad my mind kept working it.  :-)

So, we'll use this for the shower and then it's coming back to hang on my front door.  Thanks for reading and I'll see you soon!!
