Scrappy Sunshine Garland

I've mentioned that my friend and I are throwing another friend a Sunshine themed baby shower.  I made the invites which you can see here.  I love the theme!  And I'm having so much fun coming up with some fun elements to make the shower pretty and festive.

I've made no bones about my love for all things garland!  This is my first time making a longer length garland and I'm not sure I'll go back.  I adore this banner!

Here's how you can make your own.  Pick our whatever fabrics you want to use.  I had 4 different yellow fabrics on hand.  I wanted the length to be about 9 inches so I cut one inch strips 19 inches long.  So basically decide how long you want your strips, double it and add one inch.

Then you want to turn your fabric wrong side up and cross one "tail" over the other.  Put your ribbon or rope on top (I do mine upside down for whatever reason but it doesn't matter which way you turn it, just be consistent), bring the "tails" up (or down in my case) through the hole (make sense?), pull down until it looks like a tie.  Then pull tight and move into place.  This is really easy to do this while watching your favorite show.

What do you think?  Perfectly sunny right?  I just love it!!  I can't wait to get all set up for the party.

I made this You Are My Sunshine canvas a month or so ago for myself, even before I knew we were doing the sunshine theme.  It didn't turn out great but I'll still use it for the party.  I'll show you the tutorial (and where I messed up in a few days).

So, there you have it.  One of my favorite things to create, a scrappy banner.  This one is full of sunshine and sure to brighten up any space (or party).
