With Valentine's Day fast approaching, I wanted to create something for Sarah to wear that had a heart on it. A while back, I saw this adorable heart apron from Lil Luna. I had some tie-dye left over from a project I did with the girls from my old church so I decided to give it a whirl.

I used the instructions from Lil Luna, as well as the instructions from Tulip but my heart ended up with horns. Ha!
Here's how to attempt to make your own.
Start with a blank tee. I grabbed mine from Wal-Mart for less than $2.50. You should pre-wash it. Keep it wet as you fold in half and use a washable marker to draw a half heart on. Then you want to accordion fold the fabric. I started from the bottom of the heart and went up and around. Try to get it in a straight line. Then rubber-band the gathered area. Add additional rubber-bands if you want more than two colors. (I didn't). Add your color and let it sit for 6-8 hours, then wash in hot water. Dry and voila.
I'm not sure what happened to mine. I actually left mine soaking overnight. Maybe that was the problem? Or maybe my line wasn't straight enough. This was actually attempt number two. Number one just ended up a big circle. :-)
Gosh, she looks SO big here.
And here is Sarah's first tattoo. It's Minnie Mouse.
I gave you a little sneak peak of a garland I recently made for V-Day. I'll have the post up in the next couple of days.
Hope you're having a wonderful start to your week. Thanks for reading!

Very, super cute! Love it! I guess you could always outline the heart in rhinestones or something to make it more "heartish", but cute nonetheless.
Eva, this shirt is so adorable. {So is the model!}

Super cute! Love it. Thank you for sharing at our Pinteresting Party!
The shirt is cute. And I kind of like that it isn't a perfect heart. And your little girl is adorable.

Ahh... it's cute!! I might have to try one of these... tie dying makes me nervous... actually messes make me nervous. Might just have to suck it up, though, and make one of these. :)
Well done, my friend! I've never had any success at tie dying in a space before. You post has inspired me to give it another try! I'm so glad you shared this at Loving Valentines Day!
TGIF!
