Repurposed Dress Into Another Dress

So, I've been hanging onto this dress of mine for a while.  Someone gave it to me and I wore it when I was preggo with number 1.  But since then, it's become a bit tight in the chest area with number 2 if you know what I mean.  And it got some bleach on it but I knew I could use it to make something for Sarah.

I've been following Make It and Love It for a while now.  I have a bit of a crush on Ashley.  :-) She's a sewing rockstar.  Full of inspiration and has some of the the best tutorials I've ever read.  While browsing her tutorials, I came across this one that used her old t-shirt to create a cute dress for her daughter.  I thought my dress would work perfectly.

I admit that this was pretty difficult to sew.  Not the dress per-say but the fabric.  I've only ever sewn with cotton.  And this was rayon and spandex.  It was really slippery and it puckered quite a bit.  Before sewing with it again, I may need to read up on some tutorials.  But.....overall, I'm really pleased with it.  And thankfully, it fit the first time around as opposed to Sarah's Easter dress.

I took Sarah outside for some photos of her new dress.  The bow doesn't match but I loved her look in this one.

The wind was blowing her hair into a crazy hairdo.

I loved this look below with the added leggings and jean jacket.  Oh.so.cute.  This dress is so forgiving and has tons of room, I'm hoping it makes it into the Fall so I can pair it again with a jacket and leggings.

And here's the cool Instagram factor.  Isn't she tough?  And adorable?

So, this was my first refashion!  Super excited about it.  I have a sweater that I've been holding onto also to make her a sweater dress next Winter, also using one of Ashley's tutorials.  Seriously can't wait for that one!

Thanks for reading and welcome to my new followers!

What a super cute dress! The style of it will be great for her even when the dress gets a bit shorter, because it looks fantastic with leggings.

P.S. It's been my experience that knits/rayons/polyester blends don't pucker as much if you lengthen your stitch.
